Due to cost constrains and power consumption considerations, mobile devices such as an iPod or smart phone do not incorporate high-performance headphone amplifiers. The Icon Mobile's optional iPod connector lets you bypass the iPod's volume control. The compact, lightweight Icon Mobile, which can drive a variety of headphones, connects to these devices via 3.5mm stereo input. Connected to a computer via USB, the Icon Mobile can drive a pair of powered, speakers. The external 3.5mm stereo input, when inserted, takes precedence over the USB DAC. This function lets you listen to music from sources such as an iPod without having to disconnect the Icon Mobile from the computer. The Icon Mobile sounds better for several critically important reasons. Among these are a heavily filtered power supply, a DAC that's been implemented for optimal performance, and a circuit designed to drive low-impedance headphones. Last but not least, unlike digital volume controls, the Icon Mobile's high-quality analog volume control does not compromise resolution. A gain select switch provides compatibility for a wide range of headphones and earphones. Headphones impedance between 16 ohm to 300 ohm are suitable for use with Icon Mobile. | | | Features: | |

The little amp that couldOct 22, 2011

This is the first headphone amplifier and i have used it for a while now. They do pump up the volume level on any device you use them with. The little thing feel almost cheap when i first hold it. But I was taken by surprise when i paired this with some iGrados and BOSE Over the ear headphones. I have been using it lately with my pc and they do deliver. It has 2 outputs one for a mobile headphones (with mic) and the other just for headphones. Nice LED indicators. One for power, one for USB, another one for EXT and the last one for battery level. I wonder if this is better than the Fiio. You wont be dissapointed with this product. Im still loving it.
