Excellent sound from my laptopFeb 17, 2012
By Dr. West Was looking to get decent sound quality out of my laptop when plugged into my home stereo. I initially tried running directly from the headphone out but it sounded like the music was coming out of a cardboard box. I didn't want anything fancy or complicated, no software or other nonsense to deal with. After a little research I ran across this and decided to order. It's smaller than I imagined (which would be great if you have to travel around with it) but it's nice and solid and the volumne knob has a nice feel. Very easy to use. Just plug it into the usb port and run some rca cables to the stereo and it works (I'm running Vista). It doesn't come with cables but I already had some. Nothing else to do but listen to music. Sound quality is great, nice and clear no stutter or other issues with the usb that I read about. The special edition with the asynchronous usb was more expensive and I don't know if there would be any real difference between this and the standard version as I've no experience with it but I'm happy with it. Does what it's supposed to.

Great value -- good things come in small packagesApr 03, 2012
By Joseph M. Williams, III I bought this along with a pair of AKG K702 headphones to listen to music from my desktop computer. The clarity, detail, and dynamic range just blow away my computer's soundcard, and there is plenty of current to drive my relatively inefficient headphones. The difference between my computer's headphone output is immediately apparent. The build of the device is simple and solid. It is exactly what I needed and was available for a very reasonable price.

I travel a lot and it is not practical to take the home audio system with me. So a nice pair of headphones usually is as far as I can go. With the addition of the NuForce Icon uDAC2 and some uncompressed AIFF files on iTunes I can enjoy my library of music with the quality I enjoy at home. The uDAC2 powers off the USB and has a volume control so I can set it as I like it. Great sound! Highly recommended!
