Revised: Not-so-solid , good-looking cableJan 22, 2011

Last update 11/7/2011 (no stars):
The cable finally stopped working at the end of August; the wire was completely exposed and the single wires comprising the strand had unraveled and were poking out. I chucked the cable in the garbage. Sadly, I am in Malaysia on a contract, otherwise I would have returned it to nuForce with a nasty letter.
Buyer beware!
Update 02/24/2011 (two stars):
Really disappointed. Last night I noticed the rubber sleeve that joins the cable to the USB plug has completely come out of the USB plug. As a consequence, all the plastic threads that form the cable sheath are now coming unraveled on that end. It looks like hell, and there is no way to fix it.
I have handled this set up with kid gloves, so I know this cable has not been abused or mistreated in any way. I have a carrying case for my headphone set up, and when I am done listening, all the components go into the bag. The only time I use this cable is when I am sitting at my desk or in bed, so you know it isn't being knocked about. Considering the cost of this cable, and the fact that I've been only using it for 60 days, this is totally unacceptable.
Between this and the left channel face in my NuForce uDAC2, I really have to question NuForce's quality control. I am not impressed.
Original Review (four stars):
It is *just* a USB cable, so how excited can you get?
Well, let's get excited about what we can, shall we?
The cable is well made, with solid feeling terminations and a smart-looking woven cotton (?) sheath. The cord packs fairly tightly, and holds its coils. It also comes with a black velcro loop attached, so you don't have to worry about this thing uncoiling in your pack like an angry snake. The terminations have these snazzy looking red plastic NU's embedded in them. Of all the coolio-poser things I have sitting out on my desk at work, I've gotten more comments about this cable looking cool (2) than anything else. That is surprising to me, but well, there it is.
I did not do an A-B test with how this cable sounds compared to the stock USB cable (I am assuming you are using this for mysic), so I cannot say if it adds anything to the sound. I am using it with a NuForce uDAC-2 and a MacBook Pro i7. I can say that the set-up through a pair of Grado 325is phones sounds rich and clear, so thumbs up for system synergy. It looks good with the NuForce uDAC-2 as well.
It is a tad pricey, but for looks and wear, I think it is money well spent.
Note: there is a shorter version of this cable if you want to save some money. The way Amazon has them listed, you have to read the descriptions carefully to tell them apart.

Good CableNov 09, 2010
By Steve-O This is a good quality cable but I cannot justify the price tag.
This cable is well made relative thick throughout, braid cable, gold plated, and even the usb heads have really neat "NU" engraved (purely esthetic's but I enjoyed it).
I'm a relative new to the audiophile so I cannot see any any improvement in sound but to me, it sounded good overall. I cannot recognize a difference in performance.
The only thing bad I have to comment on is section of the braided cable was torn/cut. This is purely a manufacture defect and has no effect on the performance but for this price tag I did not expect a defect.
Overall, this is a good product and I kinda neutral on recommending this product as long if the cable has no defects.

NuForce Impulse Cable - High performance USB cableFeb 13, 2011

It's worth every penny. For those of us who think that digging our sounds though our Mac or PC with headphones is more than good enough, this a very useful addition to their arsenal of audio goodies. But, if you're an audiophile accustomed to paying $100/mtr or more for this kind of equipment, don't bother. This is not for you. What's gained in savings will be lost in annoyance.
